Hypnosis has been used for decades in sports. In the 1970's, Mike Brearley, the then captain of the England cricket team, went through a severe dip in form and he received a lot of criticism. Later, when he recovered his form, he attributed his improvement to hypnosis.
Back then, hypnosis was considered by some, a rather novel approach, and others thought of it as mumbo jumbo. These days, hypnosis has a proven track record and is widely used in sports.
All top athletes (whether they are aware it is hypnosis, or not), will use visualisation and listen to motivational speech to enhance their performance.
